How do Plus and Pro subscriptions work?

Plus and Pro auto-renewing subscriptions are sold through the App Store and Google Play — monthly or annual (12 months for the price of 10). Plus also offers a one-week pass (~£1.99 / $1.99) that does not auto-renew. New subscribers to monthly/annual get a 7-day free trial when the store offers one (not on the week pass). Tap your plan pill on Home or Upgrade plan in the profile sidebar, choose Plus or Pro, then pick billing. Manage or cancel auto-renewing plans in your Apple / Google account settings.

Do I need an account?

No — you can try Tallie as a guest with a few local circles on your device. Sign in when you want cloud sync, friends, invites, expense drafts, and paid plans. Sign-up supports email and password, plus Continue with Apple (iOS) and Continue with Google.

Can I scan receipts?

Yes on Plus and Pro. Open receipt mode (or Scan from Circles / Home), take a photo, and Tallie fills line items plus Tax/VAT, service, and tip on-device. You can review uncertain lines before applying. Guests don’t get scan or receipt photo attach; profile photos stay available on Free.

How is Tallie different from Splitwise-style apps?

Tallie centres on isolated circles and an immutable ledger: entries aren’t silently edited; corrections are undo or amend. It also supports custom units on Plus/Pro, on-device receipt scan, offline-first storage, and friends via Tallie ID.

Can I use custom units like “beers”?

Yes on Plus and Pro (up to 5 on Plus, 20 on Pro). Each circle locks its unit at creation so history keeps its meaning. Free and guest plans use standard currencies.

What are expense drafts?

When you’re signed in, dismissing Add Expense or Receipt with form content saves a local draft for that circle. Resume or delete it from Circle Details. Drafts are not synced to the cloud.

Can I redeem a promo or offer code?

Yes. In the upgrade flow, use Have a code? on iOS to open Apple’s redemption sheet. On Android, redeem in the Play Store, then tap Restore purchases in Tallie. Support comps may also be granted as promotional entitlements.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Your circles live on device first. When you’re signed in and online, changes sync to the cloud so shared circles stay up to date.

What happens when a circle is closed or archived?

Closing permanently removes the circle from your lists — it cannot be restored in the app. Archiving makes it read-only and keeps it out of your active lists. Plans cap how many circles you can keep archived at once (guest 1, Free 3, Plus 10, Pro unlimited); close an archived circle to free a slot.

What happens if my Plus or Pro plan ends?

You return to Free limits. Circles and custom currencies you already have keep working; Free caps apply when creating new circles, archiving more, or adding members. New circle hero photos and expense receipt uploads follow Free rules again (profile photo stays available).

Is my data safe?

Signed-in data is stored with Supabase (PostgreSQL) and Row Level Security. Traffic is encrypted in transit. Receipt scan text is processed on-device. We don’t sell your data. Card details for subscriptions stay with Apple or Google — we never see them. See the Privacy Policy.

Where can I download Tallie?

Tallie Up is free on the App Store and Google Play. You can start as a guest, then sign in when you want sync, friends, and upgrades.
